Italy Milan - Parco Museo del Volvo Volandia 2015
Set up in 2005 with the intention of creating the largest Aviation theme park in Italy, if not Europe, Volandia has been steadily growing and by the time of my visit in 2015, was beginning to become a worthwhile museum to visit. They aim to showcase many of the Aircraft Companies of the Lombardy area, in what is Caproni's 1910 factory area, conveniently situated across the road from Milan-Malpensa airport. A pedestrian bridge crosses this road from an upper level from the main terminal, to a gate which is unlocked when the museum is open, and then you have to walk around the factory buildings to the entrance.
It may be just possible to do a day trip there and back, but it is more likely that an overnight stop is required. This would also allow you to do a trip (by train and walking) to the Technical Museum in Milan as well (about 6 more aircraft in 2015).
Opening hours are:
From Tuesday to Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm Saturday and Sunday 10:00am - 6:30pm
Entrance fee is 15 Euro's
