Oakley Australia - Flypast Museum of Australian Army Aviation 2011
The Australian Flying Corps was formed in 1912, as a branch of the Army. Oakey was an important servicing and repair base for types operating in the Pacific. In 1968 the Army took control of the base and an museum was begun in the late 1970's. It houses a small collection of Army related memorabilia and airframes, including a Bristol Boxkite replica built for, but probably not used, in 'Those Magnificent Men'.
From the car park, fence area and a small terminal building, it is likely Australian Army & Navy and Singapore helicopters will be seen doing circuits throughout the day.
Located North of Oakey town Open Wed - Sun 10.00 - 18.00
