Finland - Aviation Museum of Central Finland - Tikkakoski 2018

On the 18th June 2018 i had the pleasure of visiting the Aviation Museum of Central Finland which is located near to the main gate of Luonetjarvi-Tikkakoski, approx 8 miles North of Jyväskylä Air Base, off the E4 road. Opened in 1979 and rehoused in a converted factory in the 1989, it displays the unique remains of a crashed Brewster Buffalo, the sole remaining Matinsyde Buzzard (WW1), a Fokker D.XXI and much else besides.

Open 1000am to 2000pm June to the 15th August and the 1100 to 1700 16th August to May.
Refreshments are available at a small shop near the museum entrance.

A very light, fresh and welcoming museum, they ask only that you do not attempt to poke about
looking for vantage points around their outbuildings, as they are concerned that such activities could result in the museum facing closure. If there are specific items held there that you have good reason to wish to view, they request that you write to them in advance for an escorted visit.
