Located some 3 miles South of Boise Idaho is Gowen Field, which is a joint civil-military Airport and home to the Idaho Air National Guard (ANG) the 124th Fighter Wing with their A-10C "Thunderbolts" in residence. Also co-located at the field are various army units which operate a mix of helicopter's which can be seen from the road (UH-60s and AH-64s). Inside the base is a lovely little air park with other preserved helicopters dotted about, but unfortunately none can be seen from outside.
Just to the west of the main gate is another a small museum called the Idaho Military History Museum, which is a free to enter museum, but donations are appreciated. At this location you will find 4 aircraft, a range of military vehicles and uniforms. Opening times are Tues- Sat. 12.00 - 16.00 and is well worth a look when travelling through the Northern State of Idaho.
