Located conveniently between Chicago IL and Milwuakee WI, the Russell Military Museum is easily accessible from I-94 Hwy 41. The museum comprises a collection over 40 years in the making. Situated on 10 acres, there are over 300 vehicles on display including Tanks, Jeeps, Cannons, Rifles, Helicopters, Jets and many unique vehicles you will not see anywhere else. This was one museum on my wish list and now i have been i was not disappointed. The collection of aircraft is very impressive, but at times there are areas that look more like a scrapyard than a museum, owing to the poor state of some of the exhibits, but you have to admire the owner for saving these exhibits even though some do need a lot of restoration to restore them.

Even with a few negatives at the museum the owner is very friendly and happy to talk about his exhibits. From 1st April to the 1st September it is open 7 days a week 10.00am to 17.00pm, during the autumn period September to the 15th November it is only open weekends. The museum is closed from November to April. For the small entrance fee of $10.00 you can spend as long as you want walking around the 60+ aircraft, you will not fail to be impressed by what is on display. If you have time? ask the owner on how he managed to purchase a A-10 from the USAF at Davis Monthan?....a very interesting story.
