Located in the tranquil Corpus Christi Bay, Corpus Christi Texas is the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier, the museum being home to some 19 aircraft, above and below deck. The USS Lexington is open 7 days a week 09.00-17.00 but closed Christmas Day and Thanksgiving.
The hangar deck and flight deck are wheelchair accessible and for people that find the narrow stairs difficult, there is a lift to take you to the flight deck. Aircraft range from the old N3N-3 trainer, the SBD-3 dive bomber up to the Blue Angels F/A-18A "Hornet", so there is something for everyone. If the aircraft are not your cup of tea then there is a cafe on board or you could take a walk on the beach and then even take a stroll into nearby Corpus Christi town.
The USS Lexington floating museum is very impressive and well worth a look, chances are you should be in full sunshine for your visit, but remember being high up on that carrier deck it can get a bit windy and a little chilly at times. Allow at least an hour for your visit onboard.
