41st Rescue Squadron  Moody AFB - May 2019


Moody Air Force Base (AFB) Georgia, is home to the 41st Rescue Squadron (41st RQS)  the "Jolly Green" and forms part of the 347th Rescue Group. The 41st RQS fly the HH-60G "Pavehawk" helicopter in the role of combat search and rescue (CSAR), their mission is survivor recovery, air refueling, combat rescue of downed aircrews with or without Night Vision Goggles (NVG), low level formation flying and close air support (CAS). The 41st RQS is assigned to rapidly mobilise and deploy as CSAR during wartime and peacetime deployments, also it is tasked to support search and rescue in the interests of national security. During the mid to late 1980's the 41st RQS were also assigned a very high profile role, which was assisting NASA with prelaunch security and safety and recovery or medical evacuation for the Space Shuttle missions.
